June 4-6 Weekend
From the President's Desk...
Game of the Week

With playoffs here and summer unofficially underway, our own “Iron Chef” Reggie Smith will display his culinary skills this Sunday. That’s right, Reggie will be smoking turkeys, brisket and tri-tip so bring your appetite to the complex on Sunday for these special menu items! Each sandwich is $5.00 or, for $7.00, comes with homemade potato salad or cole slaw and a drink. In addition, the snack stand will be open on Sunday serving a full menu. Please remember: no outside food is allowed at the complex. We’ll be more than happy to accommodate team parties/value meals and you can pre-order by contacting me at elljanelewis@aol.com.
Playoff Time
It’s playoff time in the upper divisions, which means the cheering grows louder in the stands and our children experience the joys and sadness of moving on or elimination, respectively. Now more than ever, it’s important to remember that “your kids are watching” and to cheer in a sportsmanlike manner. We’ll be posting scores on the ELL website so check it frequently for updates on playoffs and other League information.
For those in the AAA Jamboree, brace for a long but exhilarating weekend, as the Jamboree is the most exciting post-season format at ELL! And for those in the AA and Rookie divisions, we hope you enjoy the end of the season and the opportunity to play on Friday night.
Don’t forget to register for Fall Ball, which runs from September 12 to November 21. Early registration for Fall Ball will begin online this Saturday, June 4th and will continue through July 5th. The fee will be $125.00 per child with an additional $45.00 to opt out of the candy fundraiser, or $125.00 per child with an additional $60.00 to receive the candy to sell. After July 6th, registration fee increases to $160 (plus candy fundraiser or opt out) so register early and save money!
Enjoy your weekend. See you at the fields.....
Warmly,
Jane Lewis

The Dodgers guaranteed themselves a first-round bye in the playoffs on Saturday by beating the A's 11-4. Jerry Goosenberg hit his first homer of the season (after having been robbed by catches at the fence twice this year) to get the Dodgers off to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. His big hit came off of the pitching of legendary Jake Baer, which means it counts extra! Seth Stone gave up only 1 run in 3 great innings of pitching. Jerry came in to keep the A's scoreless in the 4th and 5th before Kyle Weiner finished the game in the 6th. Kyle was a hitting star, going 3 for 3 with a double, a single, and a home run. Jacob Davies hit another long-distance shot, a 3-run homer in the 5th. Brandon Newberg made a couple of great catches in the outfield. And with his grandpa in from Arizona, Liam Cavanaugh returned from the DL to play for the first time in weeks, and went 1 for 2 with a single. The Dodgers finish the regular season with a game against the D'backs on Tuesday.
